April 26 - Because we were robbed of a full Lent, we didn’t have a chance to really reflect on the unavoidable part of life...death. Corona has reminded us. Similarly, we have had a series of parishioners pass away in the past weeks. Life is fragile and can expire very quickly. So, what endures? Our relationship with Jesus Christ. We can be separated from family and friends. But we never are cut off from the love of Christ. Only we can sever the ties, voluntarily, by choice. Even as the sun appears and flowers bloom, we are confronted by a very sobering atmosphere every time we hear the mounting death count. We can use this reality to balance our faith forcing us to concentrate on the core issues of existence, God and how we live out that faith in relation to each other. Socrates quipped that “The unexamined life is not worth living.” May we live life to the fullest by knowing who we are and how we respond to our Creator.
