Andrew's Corner

Posted on April 18, 2024 in: General News

As Fr. McCreary mentioned in his “Pastor’s Corner,” our Vocation’s Committee is hard at work in promoting an awareness of vocations in our community – the ways in which God has called each of us to witness to our Christian faith. My hope is that you can see how Christ has been at work in the life of Fr. McCreary and myself in our answers to these 20 questions!

What did your parents do? My dad was the owner of McCarroll Pre-Cast, a family concrete business that my grandfather started in 1966. A lot of my childhood memories took place there since my brothers and I were always around to help, support, and work with my dad. Currently, my dad works for Scranton Craftsmen in Throop and is still carrying on the family legacy by working in the pre-cast concrete business. My mom has always had a strong focus on serving other people in team building and human resources. She is currently the human resources director for Acadia Health in Moosic.

What is your favorite church hymn? My favorite church hymn (it was very hard to pick just one!) is “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come.” This hymn is usually sung around harvest time and gives thanks to God in celebration of what has been given to us. Some of the verses also call to mind the Parable of the Wheat and Tares. It reminds me of the need to embrace the good seeds that God has planted within our hearts and to share those gifts with others.
