Andrew's Corner: May 12

In which church ministries were you involved? I believe that part of the reason I find myself in formation for the priesthood is because of the ministries I was involved in throughout my childhood. Three particular ministries stand out. First, being an altar server taught me about the important role that various priests had played in my parish. It inspired me to see how different priests brought different gifts and talents into the liturgy and in the community. Second, being in the youth choir taught me how to work together in a group and listen to one another. Third, being involved in our parish’s activities committee helped me to learn about serving the local community while having fun!

Who taught you your faith? My family was the primary educators of my faith. Of course, teachers, priests, and religious sisters played a role in aiding what my parents taught me. But, it was my family who encouraged me to get involved and to be part of a faith community that was much bigger than myself. I think that seeing our Church as a faith-based community that cares and loves one another as the Body of Christ is what makes our faith so beautifully profound!
