November is a time dedicated to honoring All Souls. Many parishes embrace the tradition of displaying a special book where community members and visitors can inscribe the names of their dearly departed. Inspired by the ancient practice of maintaining a necrology—a public record of those who have passed—this Book of the Names of the Dead serves as a source of healing and comfort for those grieving.
Typically available from the solemnity of All Saints until the beginning of Advent, the book invites individuals to write the names of their loved ones and encourages others to reflect, remember, and pray for their souls. Our books are located in the narthexes (vestibules) of each church. We invite you to use these books to honor and remember your beloved deceased.
