During the Jubilee Year 2025, the Holy Father invites all Christians to become “pilgrims of hope.” For this journey to be meaningful, each person must be grounded in God's grace and His mercy's fullness.
Even those unable to make a pilgrimage to Rome are encouraged to participate in the spiritual movement of receiving an Indulgence during this special year. To obtain the Indulgence, the faithful within our Diocese are invited to take the following steps:
1. Visit a Designated Pilgrimage Site:
- Cathedral of Saint Peter, 315 Wyoming Ave, Scranton
- Saint Ann Basilica, 1250 St Ann St, Scranton
- Saint Augustine Church, 295 Church Rd, Brackney
- Saint Boniface Church, 326 Washington Blvd, Williamsport
- Saint Gabriel Church, 122 South Wyoming St, Hazelton
- Saint John the Evangelist Church, 150 Terrace St, Honesdale
- Saint Nicholas Church, 226 South Washington St, Wilkes-Barre
- Saint Matthew Church, 78 Ridge St, East Stroudsburg
To receive the Indulgence, visit one of these sites individually or in a group, and recite the Our Father and the Profession of Faith (Apostles' or Nicene Creed).
2. Sacramental Confession:
Celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation within 20 days before or after seeking the indulgence, with a sincere intention of detachment from all sin.
3. Receive Holy Communion:
Participate fully, consciously, and actively in Mass and receive Holy Communion.
4. Pray for the Pope’s Intention:
To fulfill this requirement, recite one Our Father and one Hail Mary for the Pope’s intention. Alternatively, you may pray any other prayer according to your piety and devotion, provided it is offered for the Holy Father’s intention.
