October 25 - A recent study found that 63% of American youth were uncertain that 6 million Jews had been killed in the Holocaust of WWII. Many thought it was fake news and probably only 2 million were exterminated. Some of this denial could be assigned to a tragic void of historical education. But some is obviously willful. If they cannot recognize this documented disaster, how can we galvanize them for future violations of humanity? Whether it’s the unborn or Rohingya Muslims in Burma, the Catholic voice must stand out prophetically. Then, we need to aid the mothers and the refugees with long term aid. Otherwise, we are "doomed to repeat it”. (Santayana)
