Parish Commentary: June 19

Posted on June 19, 2022 in: General News

Today we celebrate two important events. One religious, one secular. The Church celebrates the Solemnity of (sometime referred to as) Corpus Christi. The basic and fundamental teaching in what we refer to as “The Real Presence.” The belief that Jesus Christ is truly present under the physical appearance of bread and wine. Our Protestant brothers and sister believe that communion is just a symbol.

At the same time, our country has set aside today to honor our fathers, both those who rest in eternal rest, as well as those who are still with us. The statue of St. Joseph is in the sanctuary to honor the patron saint of all fathers and a model for all men. If your father is still with you, give him a call or visit. If your father has gone before you, ask him to pray for you.
