Traveling Chalice Coming to St. Boniface Parish
The Vocations Committee is rolling out a new program designed to encourage prayer for vocations (particularly to the priesthood and religious life) within our parish community. The parish of St. Ann's has graciously loaned us their beautiful Traveling Chalice for our parish to use. The chalice and paten were donated by the Knights of Columbus. The chalice is hosted by a different family every two weeks. The chalice should be placed in a prominent location within the home to serve as a daily reminder to pray for those God may be calling to religious service. Participants pray for an increase and perseverance of vocations and may also send notes of encouragement to seminarians, priests or sisters. A folder containing prayers and vocation-themed activities for children is also included in the transport box for families to use.
How it works:
1. Sign up to host: There will be sign up sheets posted in the back of both churches (St. Boniface and St. Lawrence). A member of the Vocations Committee will be in touch with you to confirm at which Mass your family will pick up the Traveling Chalice.
2. Pray for vocations: During the two weeks you have the chalice, pray for vocations, especially for those in our own parish.
3. Return the chalice: Again, a Vocations Committee member will confirm with you where to drop off the chalice at the end of your two week assignment so that the next family can pick it up at Mass.
