Yes, it looks like Lent is winding down. 40 days always seems daunting when we set out on Ash Wednesday, doesn’t it? With all our promises and hopes to fast and prayer and live charitably! Next week will be Palm Sunday. Just a reminder of how we’ll celebrate that Sunday this year. We’re resuming the practice of a Palm Sunday procession at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. In today’s gospel Jesus tells us he is “the light of the world.” As we tell his story through the liturgical year, we use that image of light to great advantage. Think of the Advent wreath and how its light grows each week. Think also about where our Lent leads us: to the evening celebration of Holy Thursday and the night Mass of the Easter Vigil. The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of the Cross or Via Crucis, commemorate Jesus's passion and death on the cross. There are 14 stations that each depict a moment on his journey to Calvary, usually through sacred art, prayers, and reflections. I just wanted to take a minute to thank you all for your phone calls, cards and letters over these past two months! They certainly cheered up an otherwise unpleasant time.
