On Saturday, May 7, several children will receive their First Holy Communion. In the subsequent weeks as they become more relaxed, they will absorb the attitude they see from us as we receive. Do they see reverence as we take the Body of Christ in our hands? Are we prayerful after returning to our seats? Do they see us at church with regularity? Adult behavior often sets the bar for children. As we sing, pray, and genuflect, they watch. Meanwhile, we pray for them.

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 8. Remember your mother with a spiritual bouquet this year. Envelopes are available in the rear of the church. Simply fill out the information and place the envelope and offering in the collection box. Your intentions will be placed on the altar for Mother’s Day masses.

You are invited to join us for a celebration of Sojourner Truth Ministry (STM) volunteers on Tuesday, May 3, at 11 a.m. on the St Boniface Rectory patio. In the event of inclement weather, we will meet in the RAC. This gathering is for current volunteers and those interested in learning more about the STM ministry. We serve lunches on Fridays and hope to complete our schedule for May - August. Please join us for light refreshments and hearty fellowship. Every summer the Diocese holds a Wedding Anniversary Celebration for couples celebrating their 25th and 50th years of marriage in Saint Peter’s Cathedral, where couples renew their wedding commitment. Bishop Bambera will be celebrating this year’s Wedding Anniversary Mass on June 26 at St. Peter’s Cathedral at 2:30 p.m. The Mass will air live on CTV and the Diocesan social media platforms. His audience was Gentile Christians when he wrote about 30 years after the death of Jesus. Although this is the shortest gospel, it’s also more detailed and less theological. The Social Concerns Committee is collecting an average of 27 grocery bags of donated food items each week. The generousity of our parishes is much appreciated and several community organizations benefit.  These organizations continue to be in great need of non-perishable food items and donation boxes are located at both St. Boniface and St. Lawrence. It’s interesting that the entire last chapter of Luke's Gospel seems dedicated to re-assuring the early Christians by using the example of the disciples immediately after the shock of the Crucifixion. Through the Road to Emmaus and the Appearance in Jerusalem, Luke reminds them that Christ is in their presence even though they don't feel that. After Holy Thursday's reliving of the Last Supper, stay for adoration. The Blessed Sacrament will be reserved in the lounge. Until 11 p.m. we will remain open for silent prayer.
