Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi
Mission Appeal - Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi (LSOSF) Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Peace and blessings to you.  I hope you and your loved ones are all well and in good health. Allow me first to take this opportunity to thank Fr. Brian Clarke, the Pontifical Mission Director of our Diocese, who has invited us missionaries to participate in the 2020 MCP in this unique way.  We are grateful to our Bishop, The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, for his support for the propagation of the Faith. May God bless them abundantly. I also wish to ...

Made for More
October 14 & 15 - Over two nights at St Boniface, approximately 180 people from various parishes in the Williamsport area heard the inspirational message of Christopher West and the poetic music of Mike Mangione. Based on the Theology of the Body initiated by Pope John Paul II, this promoted respect for the human body, noted our purposeful creation and the beauty of marital sexuality.  West reflected on the Song of Songs in the Old Testament as a metaphor for God's desired union with us.  Sexual love is a preview of that union with the Creator, especi...

CHANGING OF THE GUARD An example of extraordinary service is Jane Dincher who washed and ironed our sacred linens for Mass over the past 60 years at St. Boniface. She was always incredibly dependable. Besides that, she cared for the flowers in the exterior baptismal font and around the rectory. While she is only 96 years old, she decided to hand it on to another parishioner. Mary Haswell has accepted the linens which we know she will handle like a ministry. God bless both of them for service that is often unseen but highly necessary.

Father Bill's Pastor's Corner
October 18 - Many of you started to donate to the Annual Appeal. That’s very kind. We want to finish our parish effort by Thanksgiving. I made my contribution thru both parishes and I did it online. This charity could be a blessing for the local church as we approach another winter without easy solutions. More families are reaching their financial and physical limits. Catholic schools are delaying some tuition to ease the burden. Various parishes are stretched and can’t make salary or bill payments. If your wallet is not stressed, please, help the Annual Ap...

AC at St Boniface
Air Conditioning -St. Boniface Not that you are worried about it now...but we contracted to replace the remaining 50% of the old system that recently failed. After competitive bids that were reviewed by several, an award was made to Dixon AC & R. They will conduct much of the work in Nov/Dec because of lead times for equipment. The $70k for this contract was removed from savings. Since my arrival 2.3 years ago, this is the first time we withdrew savings. Now we should aim to replenish that amount. Our budgeted surplus for the year is only $4k, considering the loss of th...

Father Bill's Pastor's Corner
October 11 - In 1919, the Irish poet W.B. Yeats wrote the poem “The Second Coming”. His doom and gloom after WWI feels like a direct prophecy of now. Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.   We have gone through these times before. Our indiv...

October-Month of the Holy Rosary

Posted on October 06, 2020 in: General News

October-Month of the Holy Rosary
October is the Month of the Holy Rosary!  The Rosary is a Scripture-based prayer. It begins with the Apostles’ Creed, which summarizes the great mysteries of the Catholic faith. The Our Father, which introduces each mystery, is from the Gospels. The first part of the Hail Mary is the angel’s words announcing Christ’s birth and Elizabeth’s greeting to Mary. St. Pius V officially added the second part of the Hail Mary. The Mysteries of the Rosary center on the events of Christ’s life. There are four sets of Myst...

Diocesan Annual Appeal - Bound Together in Hope
My dear friends, this has certainly been a difficult year, hasn’t it? We’ve faced separation, hardship and loss. Yet there are still so many good things taking place across our Diocese each and every day. We are truly blessed. As we respond to the challenges of the pandemic in our families, our parishes and our Diocese, let us continue to turn our hearts to our one true hope – Jesus Christ. His love is unending, unfading, unshakable. We are bound together in the Eucharist….bound together in hope. Thank you for all that you are doing to keep...
